This is one of those patterns that just looked like fun, so I made it. And it was fun. I’ve made Sassafras Lane designs before and the patterns are well written and clever.
Above is the “A side” (if you’re old enough to remember what that means), below is the B side. After I made the blocks with printed fabric I decided solids would be better, so I made blocks with solids and used them on the front. Since I DO NOT need any more orphan blocks, I made a back from the “leftovers”.
And I’m happy to say the longarm quilter found a hexie pattern for quilting it!

Thank you π And thanks for visiting and commenting.
Another hit! Every Sunday I look forward to your blog.
Thank you, Chela! Now if I can ever figure out how to link it to my Instagram….
Hexies have always intrigued me, but their fiddleyness not so much! This looks so modern and perhaps not as fiddlely to sew? Great finish – and with no orphan blocks yet! The hexie all over quilting adds alot, too.
Thanks for noticing the quilting! If I didn’t say, the pattern is Lexington Avenue by Sassafras Designs and was NOT fiddly, so you may want to do it in your spare time π
Lovely hexie quilt! Beautifully done. Great idea to use the printed hexies as the background. Terrific finished product.
Thank you! As you see, I am on vacation and not getting around to blogging much. I don’t know how you manage a daily post!
I don’t get out much!
Love it, very modern and stylish
Thank you π
Yes, I’m old enough to know about the A side of things — and I love both sides of this quilt. You are right that it has more of an impact with solids, but the prints are interesting, too. I also love that striped binding–it looks almost 3D in photos. Congrats on another interesting and beautiful finish!
Ha! Thank goodness someone else remembers the A and B sides.
I can see it was fun to make this — both sides!
Yes, and I was SO glad to get rid of those extra blocks π
I think I first saw striped binding by that woman from Australia who used to publish her blog all the time–oops, I’ve forgotten her name now! Anyway, I buy a yard of striped fabric whenever I see something I think will work. It’s fun.
I see eyeballs in the two-sized hexies. Lots of oogling in that quilt.
What fun! Now I can’t quit seeing eyeballs!!!
Those are very cool and fun!
Thanks. this one was fun.
