Yes! I have gotten rid of 12 UFOs this year, and the year isn’t even half over!
Several of these UFOs were actually just groups of experimental blocks I hadn’t done anything with.
Some of those went into the orphan block box, some were made into quilt tops.
This group of orphan blocks were an experiment cut from a previous experiment!
I finally arranged them in to this little quilt:
Other UFOs were actual projects that needed a “time out” before they could be made into something. Here are some of those finishes.
And finally, there were the UFOs I intended to do “some day”.

This feature fabric had been “waiting” to be made into a quilt for Ronald McDonald House, finished top is 49″ x 53″
Now, I’m off to experiment more, which will result in more UFOs. And of course I had more than 12 UFOs to start with, so there are still plenty of challenges ahead!
How are your UFOs coming along? (I have one friend who doesn’t create UFOs, but I like her anyway.)

How fun to pause mid-year and access one’s accomplishments. I am your biggest cheering section because I don’t do well at what you’re doing. I recognize my limitations and will happily watch and applaud from the sidelines. Your quilts are each unique and bring a smile, particularly the last, Ronald McDonald House quilt. It’s special! You have a friend who doesn’t have a UFO?! How did you find someone like that?! I didn’t know such a person existed!
Thanks! We all need a cheering section 😀 I appreciate your reading and commenting.
Your experiments have paid off handsomely! I especially like the blue arcs.
Thanks, Nann.
You go, girl!
Thanks, Laura!
You stole my line, Laura
😀
Bravo and congratulations!! 12 done and we’re not even halfway through the year! I seem to have started slowly this year, but should take inspiration from you and get going. Fun to see all your makes.
Thank you, Elizabeth. Mine are FAR less complex than yours!
You deserve a great pat on the back for finishing all your UFOs, and in record time, too! What wonderful, creative quilts you’ve made!
My UFO pile has barely gone down, since I’ve needed to make some quilts for good causes and sweet people. I had hope to make a 250th quilt, but I haven’t had time to even start it, let alone get it done by the 4th. Maybe I’ll have started it by the end of the year!
Congratulations on your success with your UFOs!
Thanks! And good luck with those UFOs when you get to them 😀
That’s a very impressive effort and some lovely quilts
Thanks, Helen!
(Fainted…okay back off ground). No one, I mean no one, actually MEETS all their UFOs goals! Are you extraterrestrial sent to this planet to torment us?!??!
But seriously – congratulations and awesome pieces 🙂
It really, really helps to be willing to decide that some of them need to be passed on or put in the orphan block bin rather than finished-as-started–ha!
Twelve down and many more to go. I can’t imagine life without UFOs.
Certainly not a quilter’s life, anyway!
