I learned of Brenda Gael Smith’s Dreamlines project from a fellow blogger and signed up early in 2023. It’s a free monthly art project that has had international participation, and I’ve enjoyed it. Here are my pieces from all the months sitting on the design wall so I could think about what to do with them.
I accidentally made one month’s project in the larger size, but I figured that would be OK.
The plan for November was to finish the piece, and here’s mine.
I left out some of the pieces I’d done, cut one of the big pieces in half, and added some solid strips. I quilted it with horizontal lines in threads to match the various pieces.
You can go to the Dreamlines Gallery on Brenda’s site and look at the variety of finished pieces from around the world. It’s really fun to see the variety of compositions and all the different places where people participated.
I’ll be watching to see if Brenda offers a project for next year, because I enjoyed this one. She also offers some online classes and a friend who took them says they are good.

I love what you did with these strips. Mine are still hanging on the wall.
I’ll bet you do something interesting with them! Want to see!
Wow! There is quite a variety of quilts made from Dreamlines. I really like Gloria Rich’s ‘About Face’! 🙂
Agree! I really enjoyed the gallery.
What a striking, bold, remarkable quilt.
Thank you 😀 I enjoyed Brenda’s Dreamlines project.
That’s lovely and amazing the variety in all the quilts
Yes, I’m glad she’s showing them on her website. Thanks for visiting and commenting.
Hi there, this is an bittersweet blog to read. i am as well a fan and followed this year Brendas blog. Lay beside, no time in the moment. I checked all the quilts shown on her page. And see a lot of german names. One quilt catches my interest, it has a special „handwriting“ .. and it looked like quilts from Wiebke. When I checked it out… so sad, she is no longer with us, but wrote for long time as an expert on the Bernina blog pages and I learned a lot from her following her online tutorials. Another woman finished her work. So, from Brenda to this blog … we quilters are a community. Sorry, may be bother you with this story, but Wiebke was such a talented quilter, inspirering person and made tutorials at its best for the Bernina community. And here I found the notice that she is gone for ever.
Thanks for sharing and linking to the pages of all these wonderful quilts. How nice you could manage to follow Brenda all this year long with your sewing… I had only time to look! You did a very good work!
Thanks for the information about Wiebke. And thanks for reading my blog 😀
I like your completed project. Like you I am amazed at the variety that comes from people following the same 12 sets of instructions. I hope there is a 2024 project!
Yes! I’ll be looking for a 2024 project, too!
Your piece turned out lovely, and good for you to have stuck with it! How large is your piece? Will you hang it? I started this along, and stuck with it for three months. (sigh) Not enough to do anything with, so now I’ve used a couple of the strips in a quilt backing. I plan to do the same with the other pieces I have left.
Well, I think I learned about this quilt-along from you, so there’s something you accomplished! The finished piece is about 38″ square and I have no idea what I’ll do with it. Probably just rotate it through with the other stuff on my walls. It was fun so I’m glad you mentioned it!
Ah – I was catching up on posts of yours and wrote that comment on the wrong post!
So ignore it and I would like to comment that Dreamlines is pretty cool and creative!
Thanks! And I certainly understand about needing to catch up on reading blogs 😀
