October UFO

The October UFO was the last of the blocks made a year ago for Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr’s Modern Mystery. I’ve already made a quilt or two with those blocks, but there were some left!

So I put them up on the design wall and fiddled with them, trying a dark background.

Eventually I decided on this arrangement. The background fabric is Moda Bella Lead.

This is going to a local quilter, so there’s some chance you’ll see it finished. For now, I say UFO #1 is DONE since it is no longer in a box! And just in time, too, since it was the October UFO!

  1. What a good feeling it is to accomplish a goal! I really like what you did with those random blocks. Putting them on that lead-colored background makes the bright colors pop. I wonder how your quilter will quilt it because (IMHO) it deserves custom quilting. I can imagine big stitch in there too… but that’s just how my mind goes with quilting. It’s a gorgeous quilt, Mary!
