A Ronald McDonald House near me requests quilts to be placed over preemie incubators in the NICU. They suggest 36″ square, so I made a few. They’re all from “orphan blocks”, and most were quilted by Linda Nichols (though I quilted one myself–gasp!).
And they all have this pretty backing:
Another use for orphan blocks π

Not just ‘another use for orphan blocks’, but a really wonderful purpose for them! π
Thanks π
I concur with the ‘other’ Laura π
BTW: I like the fairy & teepee fabrics in the triangle one – and the fact that you used up those triangles in a fairly straightforward manner.
Thanks, Laura!
I especially like the first and the fifth ones. All will be so appreciated!
Thanks, Andrea!
#1 reminds me that I have been meaning to look up the ‘circle of nine’ design concept. My favorites are #2 and #4 — that purposely curved border is great, and I do like crumb blocks.
Hi Nann! There are a couple of Circle of Nine quilt books, and I see they are available used at AbeBooks, which is where I get a lot of my books. Of course, your library might have them, too π
They are all so cheerful and bright. I am sure they will make a difference to those preemies.
Well, at least I hope they cheer up the stressed-out parents. Thanks.
Your pieces will add some warmth and brightness to those little babies’ spaces. Very awesome you are making those π
Thanks.
