More Circles

Here’s another quilt made from circles cut out of orphan blocks.

I asked a friend whether to re-design the whole thing or have it quilted as is, and she said it would be fine if it had a really interesting quilting design. She here is the Aboriginal panto, done by Linda Nichols in gold thread.

Name: More Circles

Finished size: 50″ x 72″

Design by: me

Quilted by: Linda Nichols

The good news is that a big pile of orphan blocks just went to a guild that’s making small wallhangings for the doors in a nursing home. That leaves me with only a few hundred to do something with 😀

  1. What a great idea! I have a pizza box overflowing with orphans. I like the lean look of your quilt with the white background. Will have to see what I can do that’s similar. Thanks! Marianne in VT

  2. I especially like the effect those curves have on the bottom right hand corner. Looks like a curved version of the AfroModern HST pattern you & I just acquired – so you’re set on the ins & outs of its basic construction. Very cool. BTW: been cutting certain of my Ankara stash…as always, ‘the first cut is the hardest’ (yeah changed the Cat Stevens last word ‘deepest’ in the quote!) but it’s opened up a floodgate of ideas…

  3. I’m a pushover for circles, so I really like this quilt. The pieced sections, turned into a circle and partial-circles make for an interesting design. Good negative space too, for the pretty quilting design. I like this!
