I just finished a quilt but then I cleaned up around the studio and found another stack of quilts I don’t think I have blogged about!
The good news is that three of these were for the magazine article, so I showed them last week! And the one on top I wrote about a few weeks ago. Here are the rest. First, the new quilt:
This little owl was made from a kit I found at Studio Stitch. I’m not saying for whom, because the holiday season approaches!

Then there’s this New York Beauty quilt I made in 2022 so I could try out various alternatives to piecing with paper that has to be torn out. I don’t think I ever presented the entire quilt. It started when my friend Elizabeth provided free patterns for NYB blocks, then I designed some with EQ, and so forth. Somewhere along the way I forgot to show the finished quilt.

Name: NYB
Finished size: 52″ x 52″
Blocks designed by Elizabeth Eastmond and currently available free in her PayHip shop

And finally, here’s a quilt I’m calling Valley of the Kings because of the Ancient-Egyptian themed metallic fabric that inspired it. I bought that fabric perhaps 10 years ago, so it was time!

Whew! Now I’ll try to keep up 😀

Your quilts always make me happy. Thanks for sharing 🤗
Thank you! And thanks for reading and commenting 😀
Somebody going to love a little owl. I have yet to work with paper piecing. This one tempts me and last, but not least, I love the quilting on last one.
Thank you! The quilting was done, as usual, by Linda Nichols 😀
Now why wasn’t I suprised by your headline?! A beautiful trio. I am glad you got to show them to us.
Ha! Apparently I am absent minded and/or get ahead of myself! Thanks for visiting and commenting.
My granddaughter would love the owl quilt.
It was supposedly “easy” but in fact there were a lot of little pieces with corners to match. However, I’m sure you could do it!
How nice that cleaning up unearthed these forgotten gems! I like how you highlighted the metallic Ancient Egyptian fabric in the perfect symbol: pyramids (triangle quilt).
Yep, Egypt-pyramid was hard to resist 😀
So glad you finally showed these finishes! From fun to elegant! I especially like the way the pattern for Kings features the fabric. Sometimes those purchases just have to wait for the right time and idea, ideas that just weren’t around when they were purchased.
Agreed! I have often bought beautiful fabric then thought for months or years before deciding what to do with it.
Lovely quilts all!
Thanks!
Wow, they are all lovely and would love to know how you did the sharp points on that new york beauty without papers
Thank you 😀 I used two techniques. One was dissolvable paper intended for use with machine embroidery, and it did dissolve when the quilt was washed. The other was a special printable interfacing-type material that can be left in the quilt after the block is constructed. I plan to try the freezer paper piecing at some time in the future, because I really hate tearing out paper!
Both approaches sound interesting. I’m with you on the paper tearing. I can’t help but think it pulls the seams
Delightful quilts and I especially like the owl!
Thanks!
I can’t believe how prolific you are! These are all so nice, particularly that cute owl. I am sure the recipient will love it.
Retirement is a wonderful opportunity to be productive. Also, I don’t watch TV which saves a lot of time.
